Santiago: Capitál de Chile

Santiago, Chile, yes, Chile, not quite our favorite place! Therefore, this blogger page will be brief and to the point. We arrived in Santiago hoping to relax and get caught up with sleep, emails, phone calls, etc. And, we did. As well, we stayed at Hostal de Sammy where the owner makes fresh banana pancakes and scrambled eggs for breakfast EVERYDAY! He is a gringo from Cali and moved to Chile not too long ago. The hostal had a pool table, huge TV with endless movies and a nice patio for hanging out. At least in a boring city we had a kush place to kick back!

Wow, cool architecture!

Now for the fun of it. Santiago has beautiful architecture and is actually a huge city situated not too far from the mountains. Santa Lucia and San Cristobal are two small peaks right in the city and offered us great views of the entire city and the surrounding snow capped peaks. From the top of San Cristobal, after a grueling hike up, we took the teleférico down and enjoyed popsicles and the killer views. Along the way there and back we saw beautiful homes and just some overall cool architecture. The city has some nice markets with trinkets and clothing and more. Like always, we hit those up full throttle (we are feria junkies!).

Snow Capped Peaks

After three or four days we wanted out and headed to Mendoza. Since CHI-AR, the shittiest bus company ever, tried to leave when they knew the pass was closed, we never made it. 2.5 hours to the border blockade and 2.5 hours back, with a loco driver who tried to beat the closing. What a little shit. The pass was closed due to icy roads, snowfall and fogged in roads. AND THEY STILL TRIED... Finally the day after we left and made it to Mendoza safe and sound in Argentina. We were not sad to say goodbye to Chile.

You must still suffer...!
